I have been Lysistrata
by Antonis Georgiou
a text for the stage 2016
"I walk down the seats, I run, shout, push, get on stage, the audience applauds me, I am an old joke which I am tired of hearing, all these years the same…"
Lysistrata is transported to today with the realization of her failure to stop the killings, the death and pain of war. She is critical, harsh with herself, her loved ones, with love and her very life. Ugliness, violence, death - these are the news, and history repeats itself. A first presentation of Antonis Georgiou’s work, within the context of the 4th mikron festival of ancient drama, organized by MITOS and Rialto Theater.
