IF
based on Euripides’ Iphigenia at Aulis
2010
Euripides’ last tragedy, Iphigenia at Aulis, contains an incredible testament. There is something more than the story of a father who decides to slaughter his daughter before decadent and bored soldiers. Within the delicate stage score there is a mechanism of transformations, an alteration of the masks. Iphigenia is a trap in which actors will be caught. Successful character changes do not allow them to exit the stage, they can only change masks. Gods need actors. Otherwise they would have killed each other of boredom. How does this happy story sound at the beginning of the 21st century? IF is a performance with polish group neTTheater.
