Stories from the Chronicle of Lentios Makheras
2017
"The poor Cypriots, are laid out on a rock at sea."
A traveling theatre troupe with all its gear sets up performances in squares. Its stories offer some explanation of the sweet land of Cyprus and are based on the Chronicle (the first text of the entire Greek literature written in the vernacular, the language of the people) of Leontios Makheras, a leading medieval chronicler. Actors, a master and slaves, mix up facts and gossip, comment in Cypriot, narrate in medieval language, confuse the present with the past, remember and forget the order, but not exactly. Participation in the International Festival Cypria 2017, open events.
