The artistic residency programme theYard.Residency is for the Center of Performing Arts Center ΜΙΤΟΣ an important active platform through which can share experiences and methodologies on art and community, can encourage an active connection with the city, the creation of multiple narratives and democratization. With the performance body as the main tool, theYard supports and hosts inter-artistic and interdisciplinary collaborations, as well as developing co-productions with creators and groups from Cyprus and abroad. The activities are presented throughout the year based at the MITOS space, Vinegar Factory (Xydadiko), which functions as an open stage, a safe courtyard for creation, meeting and exchange. The theYard was first presented in 2011 as a pilot festival, since then it has evolved into a programme for residency and producing new creative projects
The Open Call for participation is announced every November. Those organizations from abroad interested in exchanging actions or artists, can contact theYard.Residency@mitos.org.cy.
The residency’s program is based on a thematic proposal announced in the open call for applications, which are addressed to individuals and art groups from all areas of the arts, from Cyprus and abroad. It concerns mainly young but also experienced artists and groups, who will create and act in the thematic of each year, with original artwork ideas of experimental character.
The Center offers to the selected artists and Guest Residents of each year, at no cost, the space of Old Vinegar Factory for rehearsals, performances, exhibitions and other events, as well as access to technical equipment, but also invites the artists to act responsibly concerning their production. Also, all the participants have the exclusivity of the earnings from their activities, as well as the complete freedom to approach the thematic proposal of the year and express themselves artistically in any form and any way they wish to, without limitations on means and practices.
Applications may be submitted by individuals and groups from Cyprus and abroad, from all art disciplines, in relation to the thematic and during the period of the Open Call from the Center.
