Mikro Ancient Drama Festival

small ancient drama festival was an initiative of Centre of Performing Arts MITOS to create an annualinstitutional platform of indoor theatrical productions, concerning a modern approach on ancient drama.The festival was first held in Winter 2010 and continued for two more years, with opening date on the World’s Theatre Day, March 27, 2011 and 2012 at Old Vinegar Factory.

The main objectives of the organisation were: prominence of texts and themes from ancient Greek drama, presentation of different theatrical orientantions and ideological approaches, experimentation with technology and new theatrical tools in order to develop dialogue between theatrical practice and theory. Morever, the possibility among artists to exchange with

presentantions from abroad, but also the support of Cypriot artists to engage in the ancient drama.

small ancient drama festival, developed a multiface and direct program: theatrical performances, new or older productions, presentations by way of study, live music, discussions, round tables, screenings and seminars. Like every year, the festival was completed through a symposium, with the participation of academics and artists on the theme’s festival.

Co-organizers of the small ancient drama festival was the Cyprus Centre of International Theatre Institute, in collaboration with the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), the Open University and with the support of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
